Getting Started

Well, I can't believe it, but my oldest is ready to start 'kindergarten,' homeschool-style, of course. As a way to make things a little more special and exciting for her, we promised to transform my 'office' to a 'kindergarten classroom' ala Frankie. She wants to design it to look like the classroom in the 'Word Bird' books. Although my particular slant on homeschooling would probably be less structured than this, I can't really argue with her- she has memories of my classroom from my teaching days- good memories, and therefore I can't really pretend that classrooms don't exist, or make her not want to be somewhere that she remembers as fun and bright and inviting. So, a small allowance to make to help ease the transition into homeschooling 'the school years.'
